Crepe Paper Flower Workshop
with Deborah Wood

In partnership with Loving Paperwhites
Learn the art of crepe flowers with floral artist Deborah Wood. Craft beautiful flowers and take home an roses everlasting bouquet of roses, poppies and cosmos flowers!
Grab your friends and celebrate Galentine’s Day with us on February 13th at 5:30PM - 7PM; enjoy wine and small bites in the recently restored historic greenhouse at Stone Acres Farm.
Cost is $100. Proceeds from this workshop make it possible for Yellow Farmhouse to bring children from all over CT to learn about the role that flowers and pollination play in a healthy food system.

How Does Your Mushroom Grow?

The Art of Baking at Meryl Bakery (3-Class Series)
with Jessica Spivey

Jessica Spivey opened Meryl Bakery in Stonington’s Velvet Mill in October 2024. Prior to Meryl Bakery, Jessica was the Pastry Chef at Mystic’s award-winning Oyster Club and Port of Call where she earned a nomination for Best Pastry Chef by the Connecticut Restaurant Association in 2024. At Meryl Bakery, which has quickly become a Stonington sensation, Jess uses local and seasonal ingredients to produce naturally leavened products made by hand with care.
In these hands-on classes, Jess will welcome you into her kitchen and teach you to work with sourdough, bake with whole grains, and create gluten-free bakes.
Classes will meet at Meryl Bakery in the historic Stonington Velvet Mill, 22 Bayview Ave, suite 75, Stonington, CT 06378.

Mushroom and Plant Identification Class
with CT Foraging Club

Learn to safely and sustainably forage for your wild plants and mushrooms! CT Foraging Club founder Amy Demers and forager and chef Vinny Crotta will teach us how to identify and utilize spring fungi and plants positively.
We will taste Chaga tea and a foraged snack and then take a 45-minute walk to practice plant and mushroom ID skills.
25% of the proceeds of this workshop will go towards a donation to the Yellow Farmhouse Education Center, whose goal is to connect people to where their food comes from and make a local, sustainable food system accessible to all.
Registration is $35 per person.
Note: This event will focus on identifying and locating wild mushrooms, not collecting them. This event will take place outside rain or shine.

How to Grow a Pollinator-Friendly Flowering Lawn

Join us to learn how to grow a pollinator-friendly flowering lawn this spring on March 29 from 10:30AM - 12PM!
Our local food system relies on the health and abundance of the wildlife around us. Margit Burgess, Accredited CT-NOFA Organic Lawn Care Professional, will teach you how to convert your landscape into native gardens to help boost biodiversity, ecosystem health, and food system resiliency.
There will be plenty of time for questions so that you can feel confident in your plans to create a vibrant and sustainable landscape!
Registration is $10 per person. Proceeds help Yellow Farmhouse provide field trips to children all over southeast Connecticut.

The Art of Empanadas at Masa
with Jorge Baldiviezo

Chef Jorge Baldiviezo opened Masa in Stonington’s Velvet Mill in April 2024. In January, Masa made CT Magazine’s list of top new restaurants. Prior to moving the United States, Chef Baldiviezo was chef de partie at Central, the visionary restaurant in Lima Peru that earned #1 on the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2023. Now Chef Boldiviezo is expressing his latin roots through traditional dishes, artisanal sandwiches, and innovative empanadas.
In this hands-on class, Chef Baldiviezo will welcome you to his kitchen and teach traditional and new takes on empanadas fillings and the fine art of hand crimping.
